Let’s face it: our current system is broken. Punitive courts, jails, and probation lock low-income Black, Indigenous, and young people of color into endless cycles of trauma and harm. But we know there is a better way.

At Community Works, we believe the power to heal must live in the hands of the people who have survived these very systems. With traditional foundation and government grants becoming increasingly unpredictable, our community is our only unwavering foundation.

When you give, you aren’t just making a donation—you are funding real human transformation:

• $10,000 funds an entire Youth Transformation case through Restorative Justice Diversion. Instead of being locked away in a cell, a young person is brought into a circle to face what they did, take true accountability, apologize to the person harmed, and complete a plan to make things right. This model costs under $10,000 per youth, saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars compared to traditional juvenile detention.
• $1,000 provides a full month of intensive Restorative Reentry case management. This couples a returning citizen with a Credible Messenger mentor who has walked in their shoes. It gives them the baseline human dignity of securing stable housing, obtaining a driver's license, and enrolling in local colleges after decades behind bars.
• $500 delivers immediate crisis stabilization for a Survivor Support participant. When a domestic violence survivor is mistakenly arrested and released with nothing, this covers emergency community hotel vouchers, hot groceries, toiletries, and safety planning so mothers can safely regain legal custody of their children.
• A monthly donation of $100 allows us to feed our youth healthy food during their weekly meetings. This simple gift nourishes them physically as they build community, dismantle the stigma of parental incarceration, and learn the tools of public speaking and advocacy through ProjectWHAT!.

• Donor-Advised Funds (DAF): Put your charitable capital to work immediately where it is needed most. Use your DAF account to recommend a grant directly to Community Works West to help secure our core general operations.
